Christian apologetics is the discipline of giving a logical, reasoned defence of the Christian faith; explaining why Christianity is true, why the Bible is credible, and how it's coherent and consistent. The word, "apologetics", comes from the Greek ἀπολογία (apologia), meaning “a defence”, especially in a legal or formal context (for example, Plato's Apology).

The aim of Active Apologetics is quite simply to carry out the biblical instruction that Luke gives in 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV): "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." This website is named Active Apologetics because Christians are expected to be active in proclaiming the Gospel, defending the faith, and countering falsehoods and misconceptions with scripture, fact, logic and reasoned argument. The following verses support our mandate to be active.
